So many exciting events past and present!

April 22, 2023. This is where Marilyn Monroe's mother lived. It was a rest home for women with mild nervous and mental disorders where they could rest and recover, located in Glendale, CA. Thanks to the efforts of The Friends of Rockhaven, it is listed on both the State and National Historic Registries. The City of Glendale owns the property and recently received $8 million in state funding to open the park. The city is planning to operate it as a park, museum, and gift shop. It is a beautiful landmark with the furniture and everything still intact since 1923. Click the picture to go to their website and see a huge gallery of amazing photos!

Please join us and help with the preservation of this wonderful historic site. You will have the opportunity to shop for many unique items made by local artists. The fair will be held at St. Luke’s of the Mountains old stone church in La Crescenta, Calif. Designed in 1924, it is a beautiful rock structure with ample space in an auditorium and a lovely patio. Camille will be a vendor at this annual holiday arts & crafts festival this weekend! It is a Tujunga tradition and there are several thousand shoppers every year. Tujunga has it's own art scene, and there is a band I have been wanting to see for a long time, the Honest Family Outlaws, "a country funk band from the mountains of Tujunga," who will be performing at the fair. Part of the tradition of this fair is that you can buy ceramic bowls made by the students at the McGroarty Arts Center and they fill it with hot chili! I believe there is no chili this year (next year) but you can still buy the bowls and other ceramics. Plus there will be 59 vendors! We have so many really great artisans here in Tujunga, you will have an opportunity to find a wide variety of one of a kind handmade items that make excellent gifts. Hoping to see you there!

100th Anniversary of Historic Verdugo Hills Cemetery. Our local cemetery was abandoned and neglected, but volunteers have been working hard for two years to restore this unique landmark. It has personality and deserves to be restored. Camille Stancin is one of 30 artists chosen to receive a slice of the flagpole, that was erected in 1914, to create an art piece to be auctioned as a fundraiser for the cemetery. 100% of the proceeds will go to future maintenance of this historic site. This is the painting Camille did to commemorate this important occasion. It will also be an all-day fun event! We hope to see you there!
